Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Bloop ("we", "us") is a family meal-planning app made in Australia by Brent England. This policy explains what Bloop stores, why, and the choices you have. In short: we only keep what's needed to run your family's plan, and we never sell it, advertise with it, or track you.
What we store
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Names and colours that family members choose (e.g. "Jett") | To show who's cooking, who's in the family, and so on |
| Your family's content: meal plans, recipes you add or import, ratings and favourites, shopping lists, notes and noticeboard posts | That's the app |
| Device sign-in credential: a random secret (we store only a scrambled hash of it) and a device name such as "Brent's iPhone" | To keep you signed in. Your device keeps the secret in your iCloud Keychain so your other Apple devices can sign in automatically. We never see your Apple ID |
| Push notification token (once alerts are turned on) | To send alerts and reminders to your devices |
| Outlook calendar connection (optional, parents only): the Microsoft account email, plus an access token kept in secure key storage | To show and edit your family calendar inside Bloop. Events are read from and written to Microsoft when you view them; we don't keep a copy beyond short-term caching |
We don't collect your location, contacts, health data or payment details. We don't use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
AI features
When you use "Let Bloop plan", "Ask Bloop" or "Generate recipe", the text you type and basic details of recipes (titles, ingredients, timings) are sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI to create suggestions. Under Microsoft's terms, this data isn't used to train their models. Don't put personal information in AI requests that you wouldn't want processed this way.
Where your data lives
Bloop runs on Microsoft Azure in Australia (Australia East), with the AI service in Azure's US regions. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Only Bloop's operator can access the servers, and only to run and support the service.
Service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Microsoft Azure (hosting, database, storage, AI)
- Microsoft Graph (your calendar, only if you connect it)
- Apple (push notifications, iCloud Keychain)
Children
Bloop is a family organiser that a parent sets up. Children join a family through an invite or a code made by a parent, and only enter a first name and choose a colour. Parents can see, edit and remove members and their devices at any time. If you believe a child is using Bloop without a parent's involvement, contact us and we'll delete their data.
Your choices and deleting your data
- Delete my profile (Family screen) removes your member profile and signs out your devices.
- Delete family (parents) permanently removes the whole family: members, devices, plans, lists, notes, family recipes and the calendar connection.
- Disconnect calendar removes the Microsoft connection and its stored token.
- Or email us and we'll delete or export your data within 30 days.
When you delete your data, it's removed from our database straight away and from backups within 35 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
